The Peruvian duo of dream pop and spectral electronics is passing through Madrid presenting their album Persona, produced by Mario Silvania. After playing at the Autoplacer festival, they will perform at a final concert at Bastardo Hostel before travelling to the Keroxen Festival in Tenerife.
Their latest LP has been named by Noisey as one of the best albums in Latin America so far this year, another factor that makes this masked duo an unmissable proposition.
Laikamorí is a Peruvian project created in 2014. The duo explores genres such as dream pop, psychedelia and experimental electronics, combining atmospheric melodies and synthesized voices with a spatial and dreamlike aesthetic.
The mystery is one of Laikamorí's axial concepts, so they use masks to depersonify their music and immerse it in a sonic and aesthetic proposal, which is complemented by the use of visuals in their shows. The band's first EP was released in August 2014 through the Hype Records label with a total of 5 tracks inside.
In April 2018 the duo released their second album and first LP Persona through the Peruvian label based in Madrid, Plastilina Records, which has received a good reception from the national and international press. In addition, this album has been produced by Mario Silvania, part of the acclaimed Spanish duo of the nineties "Silvania".
His first EP had an important reception both from the public and the local and international specialized press, being chosen as the Best EP of the Year and the third Best Launch by the influential newspaper El Comercio (Peru). The magazine Dedo Medio (Peru) also chose it as the third best launch of the year and the portal Dance To The Radio (Costa Rica) placed it in the first places in its ranking of the year.
Laikamorí has not only made presentations in important local venues but has also been the support band for international events such as Future Islands, Cocorosie, Molly Nilsson, Moderat, Drab Majesty, and so on. In October 2015 they had 3 dates for the Conecta festival in the city of Cusco. In December 2015 they were chosen to participate in the Week of the Music Industry in Sao Paulo (Brazil). In addition the duo was selected for the prestigious festival SXSW 2016 (South by Southwest) in USA.
In August 2016 they participated in two concerts in Santiago de Chile on the occasion of the Neutral Festival, where they were invited after winning the Ibermúsicas cultural funds, together with bands like the Spanish El Guincho and the Mexicans of Clubz, recently they have participated in the second edition of the Lima festival Paraíso Vacío, together with bands from Spain like Joe Crepúsculo, Pumuky, and the Claveles.
In 2017 they won for the second time the Ibermúsicas funds, which has taken them to a series of concerts in Spain, among them the Autoplacer Festival and the Keroxen Festival.
