Oniria Teatro was founded in Madrid in 2013, promoted by curiosity and the need to express with their own personal language everything that moves them and makes them uncomfortable. Their eyes were observing, their bodies were receiving, their heads doubted and continue to doubt the reality that surrounds them. These were the causes of the creation of Oniria Teatro. Ana Samper and Jesús Lavi are the founders of this platform, which today continues its trajectory committing itself tirelessly to artistic creation and the production of shows and plays.

Each project carried out and those that are in the drawer gestating have something in common: our gaze. A gaze that mutates and transforms itself with each little step we take. How can we tell what moves us? In what way? From what place? With what intention? Doubts are our impulse.

Oniria, when she was one year old, joined a collaboration project with the Network of Youth Centres and the Community of Madrid "Teatro Joven de Bolsillo" in which they made short pieces such as: "Operación: Acción de Gracias" (Operation: Thanksgiving) and "La Sala de la Espera" (The Waiting Room). They then researched texts by the British author Harold Pinter and "Lo Pinten como lo Pinter" was born, directed by Jesús Lavi. They also gave birth to three new short format pieces: "Tres" by Cristina Gallego, "El chico de las 15,30h" by Juan Sánchez Gómez and "Doblones" by Kike Atalaya, chosen to be represented in our hotel in Malasaña.

The theatre of Oniria

A kidnapping for the first time, a child, three kidnappers who think they're Fatal Femmes and a "kidnapper" something... apprehensive. Can anything go wrong? Silva, Saray and Nereida have planned to kidnap the son of a great tycoon, plus Fran (Nereida's boyfriend), who is new to the band. All desperate to get the money, since they came to this job for the same reason: The precarious economic situation of this country. To this desperation is added the clumsiness of Fran, in charge of taking the child.... Comedy of absurd black humour with more twists than the turuleca hen.

Currently the promoters of Oniria Teatro are Jesús Lavi and Colette Casas. Sandra Fernández and Noa Goldfryd accompany them in production and technical direction respectively. Five years have passed since our first performance, "Pic-nic" by Fernando Arrabal, and we are just as obsessed with telling stories.

The company has participated in Didascalia Grecorromana (School campaign held in the Villa de la Dehesa in Soria, based on Greco-Latin titles). In their last season they have continued with Doblones micro-theatre performances in different alternative venues in Madrid and have made a small tour with Las Báquides de Plauto. Their effort has been focused on the creation of a latest production, "Recuérdate Krapp". A work based on a free version of Samuel Beckett's Last Krapp Tape that has been included in the Madrid Surge Festival 2018.

If you're a fan of micro-theatre sessions you can't miss this date with Oniria. Remember that in Bastard many things happen and that they are very cool. We are waiting for you in the hostel that conquers the hearts of Madrid!
