The renaissance bastard spirit
Erasmo of Rotterdam, the Renaissance jokester, was a philosopher, philologist and theologian. This 16th century man was known for his work "In Praise of Folly", where he revealed uncomfortable truths about the society of his time and crudely criticized the Catholic Church, while letting out laughter disguised as sarcasm. But, he not only made people laugh with his social satires, he also advocated for an education that would challenge minds and remove barriers. At Bastardo Hostel, we celebrate his free spirit and the desire for knowledge. After all, who said learning can't be fun?

International Student Day
On this day, we raise our glasses (at Limbo) in honor of Erasmo of Rotterdam who advocated for an education without barriers, thus laying the foundation for future adventurous students, the erasmus. On this special day, we reflect on how this gentleman inspired generations to find new academic horizons and immerse themselves in foreign cultures, building intellectual bridges that connect the past and present.

Your family arrived Madrid and can't fit your bed? Don't be afraid son of Erasmo, your father has not only left you with his Erasmus legacy, he is also the owner of our room 302 at Bastardo Hostel, in the center of Madrid, which you can inherit. On the third floor you will find our renaissance joker, with a family room for 3, so your family can sleep peacefully while they come to watch over you. Furthermore, this room has real beds and not those extra beds found in those 5-star hotels.
