Are you interested in going to a festival this summer in Madrid? Well, you are in for a treat, because we've gathered 15 festivals of all genres and styles right below. We're sure you'll find at least one you'll love!
Festivals in Madrid in July
In July we have several festivals in Madrid with very unique musicians, separated in concerts throughout the month.
Universal Music Festival / July 5-31 / Teatro Real / 27-120
€Paul Anka, Jamie Cullum, Joan Báez, José Mercé and Tomatito... are part of the special programme for the bicentenary anniversary of Teatro Real. If you are interested in one of the concerts, be careful and hurry, because some areas of the theatre have already sold out.
Noches del Botánico 2019 / 20 June-31 July / UCM Botanical Garden / From 23€
It may be the best location for a festival in Madrid: right in the Botanical Garden Alfonso XIII from the Complutense University. It has more than 30 eclectic concerts by musicians such as Ana Belén, Andrés Calamaro, Beirut, Keane and Ben Harper. The prices change depending on the artist, so it's better if you check it out individually.
Festival Ingenia Jazz & Wine / July 8-29 / Teatro Cofidis / 15€
Every Monday in July we can enjoy international jazz figures such as Kyle Eastwood (July 15), Antonio Lizana (July 22) and Deborah J. Carter (July 29).
Festival 38 Aniversario Sala Clamores / Until July 25 / Sala Clamores/ 8-30€
If you want more jazz and soul, Sala Clamores also celebrates its anniversary with bands that have won more than 20 Grammy awards (added together). Not bad, right?
Festivals in Leganés
Leganés wants to steal the spotlight from Madrid in terms of concerts, because this summer 2019 brings us three amazing festivals.
Overdrive Festival / September 14 / Nueva Cubierta / 28€
The 25th edition of one of the best techno-trance festivals in Europe is celebrated with Bonzai All Stars, Der Dritte Raum or Resistance D.
HDC Rockin' Fest / September 13-15 / Recinto Ferial / Free
The world of motorcycles and retro-American music come together to create something more than just a music festival, because it is a Harley Davidson meeting point, an exhibition of American cars, a flea market and a place to choose between a lot of food trucks.
Another festival, the Urban Hymns Fest, was scheduled for July 19, but has been postponed, although the next date has not been announced. We'll keep you updated!
Mainstream Festivals
Ok, when we say mainstream, we don't mean it in a bad way. In fact, we love mainstream, and we are definitely not going to miss these editions, because they come loaded with artists we love.
DCODE / September 7 / UCM / 60€
One of the most outstanding showcases of indie music returns another year and, once more, doesn't disappoint. Two Door Cinema Club will be the headliners, and will be accompanied by Amaral, Caravan Palace, Carolina Durante, The Cardigans and many more on a day full of rhythm and, especially, good vibes.
Coca Cola Music Experience / September 13-14 / IFEMA / 20-30€
With one of the most eye-catching prices at Madrid's summer festivals, the Coca Cola Music Experience brings us the best pop with Liam Payne, Clean Bandit, Morat and a lot of alumni from Operación Triunfo. In fact, they could almost create their own edition, because Lola Índigo, Alba Reche, Natalia, Miki, Alfred and a few others will perform.
Festivals in September in Madrid
There's no better way to say goodbye to the summer than by going to a festival. Period. Luckily, you have quite a few to choose from, because next September 21st will be packed with five festivals for every taste. All that's left is to choose your favourite, because cloning is still not very advanced. Shame.
Weekend City / September 20-21 / IFEMA / 30-50€
The first edition of this festival comes to position itself as a reference in the urban and eclectic music. With an interesting mix of genres, it has representatives of trap, indie, rock, hip hop or electronic, with bands like SFDK, New Order, Bad Gyal or Jamie Jones.
Jardín de las Delicias / September 21 / UCM / 40€
Perfect for brightening up a little the return to classes, this festival will turn the Cantarranas sports centre into a very special garden full of performances, activities, shows and music, lots of music. There are still artists to be announced, but for the moment you can get a little excited with the confirmation of Coti, Bely Basarte or Guitarricadelafuente.
Fosa de frikis / September 21 / Sala Mon / 18€
With one of the most striking names, (Freak-pit), this edition focuses on artists who use humour in their songs, such as Petersellers, Un Pingüino en mi Ascensor or Riki López.
Margaritas Rock Festival / September 21 / Getafe / Free
What about those groups that don't fit into other festivals? That's what Margaritas Rock wants to solve, betting on emerging madrilenian bands like Coz, Monterrey and Hora Límite. And best of all, it's free! All they ask for is a contribution of non-perishable food, hygiene products or toys that will go to the people who need it the most in the area.
Progstureo Fest / September 21 / Sala Caracol / 22-33€
As you can see, it has one of the most striking posters, which serves as a preview of what to expect, with groups like Adrift, Kotebel and Cró!
GetMad Festival! / September 13-14 / Ocho y Medio / 27-52€
Don't worry, this one is not on the 21st, we're not going to make it harder for you to choose which one to go that weekend. The GetMad festival is held two minutes away from our hostel. Literally. We just went and came back to time it. With red traffic light included. Here you'll be able to enjoy punk bands like Gang of Four or The Soft Moon.
Sounds like an entertaining summer, doesn't it? If you want more concerts, in Bastardo artists of all genres come to amuse our evenings, so keep an eye on our schedule.
