We bring a super plan for the little ones in Bastardo! You know how much we like the family plans in our hostel and that's why, for next February 2 we have prepared a very special activity for you, Ada Francoy comes to Bastardo, storyteller and writer.
How many times do we ask the kids, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Nerea was also being asked by everyone. The book "Quiero ser prinfresa" tells the story of a brave entrepreneur who knew she could become whatever she wanted. He didn't care that everyone thought he was crazy and, thanks to his imagination, he will achieve his dream: to become a "prinfresa". He will have to learn sewing, mechanics and medicine, among others.
I want to be a princess is a poetic twist to the classic topic of princesses, but from a free and imaginative perspective. It also seeks to fit into a children's literature that advocates for gender equality and family diversity. In the first place, because she is a woman protagonist, who is enterprising, imaginative and independent. Secondly, because Nerea forms a somewhat unusual family with elements that make her grow, avoiding idealized representations of romantic love so present in children's stories.
The presentation of the book will be done through a fun theatrical representation of the story, especially recommended for children from four years onwards. You will get to know the author and the illustrator first hand. In addition to enjoying the storyteller, they will get closer to the publication process, seeing some of the original illustrations, and having more direct contact with the artists. The presentation and storytelling will last approximately 30 minutes and there will also be the possibility of buying the book at the same event, as there will be a table for selling books.
How "Quiero ser una prinfresa" is borned by Ada Francoy and Pedro Fernández
Ada Francoy is an actress, storyteller and writer who was awarded the Gloria Fuertes Prize for her short story "La forma de la Navidad". She is currently freelance and works as an actress and storyteller. In addition to research on the uses of children's literature for understanding diversity, she collaborates with various agencies by giving courses and lectures on gender, theatre and education.
Doctor in Education, she specializes in children's literature and gender equality. In addition to teaching at the university and researching the uses of children's literature for understanding diversity, she collaborates with various agencies, including Trinity College, giving courses and lectures on gender, drama and education. As a teacher, he has extensive experience in bilingual education in the United Arab Emirates, Myanmar, Spain and England. As an actress, she has worked in film and television, and has currently focused her career on storytelling. As a writer, Ada advocates stories in which there are more women protagonists, and more independent and enterprising, protagonists who develop and express their gender in very diverse ways and in which family groupings reflect the wide range of families that exist in our society, including single-parent families, homoparental families, etc.
Pedro Fernández is an illustrator, painter and muralist. He took a degree in Fine Arts at the University of Cuenca and currently lives in Madrid. In his wide artistic trajectory as a muralist he has had clients as diverse as El Corte Inglés, Hoteles, OHL or the Palacio de Congresos de Orán. He has painted for churches, historic buildings, public institutions, private individuals, advertising agencies, businesses and street art.
"Quiero ser una prinfresa" is part of the idea that we can all become whatever we want, regardless of what limitations others put on us. In her creative dream, Nerea becomes half princess, half strawberry, a plant that has a curious way of extending and multiplying itself towards the horizon, thanks to small families of roots from which these stems are born, who, as our protagonist, are explorers. Maybe that's why he liked them so much. You can have a look at their website, where besides finding all the information about Ada and the rates it has, they also offer "Cuentacoaching" services for adults in the form of theatre to renew energies and improve oral narration.
