It carefully breaks down the dramatic text of Shakespeare Julius Caesar by extracting the essence of his two main characters: only by observing the features of Brutus and Mark Antony, understanding their emotional mechanisms, can we narrate the conspiracy against the Roman emperor: how Brutus betrays and kills Caesar before the impotent gaze of Mark Antony, the victim's faithful friend.
The contemporary dance piece, performed by two women, seeks to observe and pay tribute to some of the cultural characteristics of classical Rome, transferring to the present day the ancient vision of perennial values in time such as friendship, love of the homeland, ambition, or loyalty. Brutus: "You will wonder why Brutus rose up against Caesar (...): it was not because he loved Caesar less, but because he loved Rome more".
The work, exhaustive work of dramaturgical adaptation and research, starts from the perspective of physical theatre and dance mixing text, expression and movement. This work is currently being developed in the Residencia Coreográfica granted by the National Dance Company, as support for the creation and endorsement of the quality of the proposal. This presentation is only a sample of the current work that shows in full creative process (the residence ends on April 12) a small exhibition with commentary of the project in Bastardo Hostel (Madrid).
