Being a hater can be a good thing, it can make you more demanding and lead you to discover the best places, such as our hostel in the centre of Madrid.

Haters are people who systematically show negative or hostile attitudes to anything. The word hater, as such, is a noun, and can be translated as 'hater', or a person who 'hates'.

After reading this definition it's clear to us: we are haters, we hate by nature and by taste. We hate to achieve perfection and to reach a climax.

You may have noticed that in Bastardo we hate many things, but it's not because of that, but because we like to be surrounded by good things and because we are honest, the best things in life are not standardized.

If looking for the best is to be hater, we call ourselves haters and we feel proud to be able to be so.

• Newsletters: We hate them too. Those endless newsletters you're tricked into subscribing to for one reason or another, only to have your inbox flooded with emails that contain absolutely nothing interesting. We know—they're awful. That's why at Bastardo Hostel, signing up for our newsletter is entirely up to you. No tricks, no hidden catches. We promise not to bother you too much and to only send quality content, like special offers and up-to-date information about everything happening at Bastardo.
• We hate being invited: We don't like having to wait for an invitation to get in. We prefer to show up and be welcomed. That's why at Bastardo Hostel, we don't invite you—we encourage you to walk right in, no knocking required, and let yourself get lost in Bastardo's hidden corners. The Bastardo spirit will take over and bring out the best in you.
• We hate hotels: More specifically, we hate the idea that hotels are somehow better than hostels. Why? Because at Bastardo Hostel, we're on a mission to break every negative stereotype associated with the word "hostel." From our hostel in the heart of Madrid, we're here to show you what great hospitality really looks like, win your heart, and prove that quality and hostels can absolutely go hand in hand.
• We hate standards: We're illegitimate by nature. We don't care much for role models, rules, or following the crowd. We prefer doing things our own way—and we're proud of it. What's wrong with being different? What's wrong with being a Bastardo?

Because, even if it doesn’t seem like it, behind the things we hate there are always others we’re truly passionate about.

• We love spaces with personality, the ones that have a story to tell.
• We love the spontaneous conversations at our hostel reception.
• We love everything that happens inside these walls: live music, talks that go on longer than they should, presentations that start formal and end up becoming something else, and festivals that take over the building.

• We love people who travel to live experiences, not to collect identical rooms in different cities.
