Nereidas

One window for another, this time Bastardo goes deep into the sea. We became a real aquarium full of marine creatures and plants. As always, our window will fill the whole street with light and colour, being a point of attraction and bringing out all the magic of Malasaña’s coolest hostel. Bastardo becomes an aquarium to oxygenate and refresh the center of Madrid.

The artists Miriam González Rosco and Ana Campos Manso are responsible for this work of marine art. The project aims to unify the work and the building as a whole and thus transform it into an aquarium. It has also taken into account the integration of the work in the urban environment and thus show new sensations, colors and motifs to the neighborhood.

The work of Nereidas has very vivid colors to show the beauty of the seabed in all its splendor and the importance of a clean ocean, giving life not only to the street but also inside the space. The artists show a reality without conditioning the spectator. The name of the work is also drawn from the depths of the sea, since the Nereidas were the nymphs of the Mediterranean Sea according to Greek mythology. Juan Gallego, Professor of the URJC and illustrator, has been the one who has put in contact these wonderful artists to decorate our glass. They consider it a personal challenge to face large formats and be able to express their art and ideas in Bastardo as it is characterized by being different, fighting against the tide and offer endless services to customers and neighbors.

The artists

Miriam Gonzalez thinks that the day she was born she was exchanged for a pencil and paper, and hence her passion for the world of art. She is considered a multidisciplinary artist, lover of all branches of fine arts. When he started high school he discovered that there was a world in which she finally fit in and enjoyed. These studies were followed by those of Conservation and Restoration of painting in León, her native city. She is currently finishing her degree in Fine Arts in Aranjuez. Here you can access Miriam’s portfolio, which shows her magnificent work in sculpture and painting. She has participated in several exhibitions and artistic stays of which they can be highlighted:

Ana Campos Manso has been passionate about art for as long as she can remember and when she finished high school she obtained a Higher Degree in Graphic Arts and Design Applied to the Wall at the Escuela de Arte La Palma, in the Calle de La Palma in Madrid. There she discovered her true vocation, although it was not yet clear to her exactly what she wanted to do, but something told her that she had to follow that path. She then entered the Fine Arts Degree at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, which is currently being finalized. She wants to focus her artistic career on Graphic Design, Motion Graphics and everything that has to do with the arts applied to digital technology.
